Jose Javier Reyes suggests judge replacements in ‘Idol Philippines’
Manila, Philippines — Veteran director Jose Javier Reyes was the latest showbiz personality to criticize the judges in the Kapamilya reality singing competition “Idol Philippines.”
In his Twitter account, the prominent director appeared to be suggesting replacement judges for Vice Ganda, Moira dela Torre, and James Reid.
“Suggestion: Jed Madela, Gary Valenciano, Morisette Amon as replacements? Credibility is important … more than celebrity,” Reyes wrote in his Twitter account.
Twitter users had mixed reactions on the veteran director’s tweet some even saying that “It’s Showtime’s” Tawag ng Tanghalan have more credible judges than “Idol Philippines.”
“Mas may credibility pa judges ng Tawag ng Tanghalan eh,” a Twitter user commented.
“Wow nice response sir. I agree that after they waited long in line just to be able to show their “talent” on this singing competition and get rejected because 75% of the judges sees the looks as 75% more imporatant making the singing talent just 25%,” another Twitter user commented.
While others don’t agree with Reyes saying:
“This is crab-mentality at its finest. Kaya hindi umuunlad ang Pilipinas eh.”
Later on, Reyes apologized in his tweet saying:
“A misstep to make the suggestions. We all want the show to work to give chance to new talents. My apologies for the insensitivity,” he said.
Meanwhile, in an interview with ABS-CBN, Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez defended her co-judges in the hit reality TV show after receiving criticisms on their judging skills.
“Mayroon kaming mga kanya kanyang specialty. Ako obviously, sa technicals ako. A lot of times, they don’t even question what I say. So kanya kanya kami ng trabaho. They were chosen because mayroon silang expertise din,” Regine explained.
Since airing, Reid, Dela Torre, and Vice Ganda had received bashing from netizens for their judgments on the show. The three were criticized for saying “no” to reggae singer.
